ACPE, as the education partner of Sydney Thunder, has a strong long-standing relationship with them. This has meant great opportunities for ACPE students, many of whom have interned at Sydney Thunder or gone on to be players, including high profile ACPE Alumni and Sydney Thunder Player, Jay Lenton.
Sydney Thunder has recently chosen ACPE’s state-of-the-art Olympic Park facilities, as their chosen venue for the up coming BBL season, bringing them even closer to our doors.

We had a chat with Lee Germon, General Manager of Sydney Thunder and soon to be CEO of Cricket NSW, to ask him why he chose the ACPE campus as a location and to share with us a bit about the relationship between the two organisations.

What made you choose ACPE as the location for Sydney Thunder HQ for the BBL season?
Germon:

I felt the facilities at ACPE met our needs perfectly. The provision of modern, world-class high-performance facilities and meeting rooms and its location in the centre of Sydney’s internationally renowned Olympic Park precinct, meant that ACPE was a perfect choice for us this season.

Tell us about the relationship between ACPE and Sydney Thunder?
Germon:

The relationship between us is mutually beneficial and perfectly aligned. ACPE provides high quality, performance focused education and is committed to contributing to the community. Sydney Thunder and ACPE have had a partnership for several years now and many of our cricketers have undertaken a degree at ACPE.

Why does Sydney Thunder exclusively hire ACPE students as their Interns for the season?
Germon:

The interns we have received from ACPE have always been high quality, motivated, engaged students. They have understood the purpose of Sydney Thunder and been important team members during our busy season.

We are very excited to welcome Sydney Thunder to our facilities.
