Why is O-Week important?

O-Week provides new students with an immersive introduction to study and College life at ACPE. You’ll learn all about your course, get to know your lecturers, support staff and new classmates! It is also an opportunity to learn all about the on campus services available to you including the Library, Student Learning Services and Career Development, as well as student social and sport life.

O-Week is your opportunity to find out the who’s who and what’s what, so by week 1 you’ll be ready to launch yourself into your studies!

Get all the info

  • Take advantage of the opportunity learn first-hand what life will be like and hear about the experiences of current students and staff.
  • Meet staff members from various departments and learn about the services and programs offered and how to go about using them.
  • Discover where to go when you need further information, advice or assistance. Remember; don’t be shy to ask questions! It’s better to get them answered now to avoid feeling lost later.
  • Familiarise yourself with the degree program, pick up your timetable and ID card and attend information sessions relating to your degree.
  • Learn about the social life of the college and what you can expect outside of the classroom.

Meet new friends

This is the fun part! O-Week is a fantastic opportunity to meet fellow students and form new friendships. Whether you are fresh out of high school or returning to study, you’ll have the chance to meet lots of new people. O-Week programs ensure there are lots of opportunities to get to know the people who will be in your degree and mix and mingle with students from other disciplines. The connections you make in college can stay with you for life and can come in handy for the future.

Get to know your new environment

Get familiar with where things are on campus and discover special spots surrounding campus such as bars, restaurants, study spots, coffee shops, etc. O-Week can be a little overwhelming and you’ll be trying to take in as much information as possible. It might be helpful to take a pen and paper and jot down key points when you get the chance.

There are so many other things you can take away from O-Week and it’s up to you what you make of it. O-Week is designed to help you feel part of the group and it is an extremely fun and informative way to begin your academic journey.

  • Comfortable clothes
  • Comfortable shoes (heels and thongs not advised)
  • A good attitude!
